We are seeking a FT Surgical PA to join our multidisciplinary team of PA’s in the Dept of Surgery. Clinical responsibility is to provide assistance to the Surgeon with the clinical care and treatment of patients. Technical responsibility of displaying professional competency in the OR. Performs and assists with bedside procedures as appropriate within the delineation of privileges. Identifies and provides for the teaching of patients, families and other health care providers. With the supervision of a Physician performs complete histories and physicals on patients of all ages to establish and record patients current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan to provide continuing medical care, including daily examinations, writing orders, chart notes, discharging patients and completing discharge summaries.
Performs various duties to assist surgeon during surgeries. Implement therapeutic intervention for specific conditions when appropriate. Exercise judgment on problems requiring consultation, referral, or evaluation by the supervising surgeon or other health care professionals. Order, collect and perform appropriate laboratory or diagnostic procedures, and studies including but not limited to blood and tissue specimens. Ordering or performing diagnostic studies such as, but not limited to, EMG, electrocardiogram, compartment pressure measurements, and x-ray examinations including special x-ray examinations CT, MRI, and bone scans, etc.
1-2 years preferred as a certified Physician Assistant. Graduate of an accredited Primary Care Physician Assistant Program with a CT State license.
